Case study
Bridging the gap between basic and advanced Users in email creation
Overview
Kibamail needed to cater to both beginners and more advanced email creators, offering a flexible yet seamless experience. The challenge was creating an email composer that could handle simple tasks like newsletters while also offering the complex design tools needed for more advanced users, such as marketers working with brand guidelines and customized templates.
Goals for basic and advanced editor view
Scope
The goal was to design an email composer that could switch between two modes: a basic editor for simple email creation and an advanced editor for users who wanted more customization. I worked on the interface to ensure both user groups could easily navigate the platform and perform their tasks without feeling overwhelmed.
Elements of the email composer
Execution
For basic users, we designed a simple drag-and-drop editor with preset components, allowing them to easily edit text, colors, and add images. A tooltip system helped users format text and insert links with ease. For advanced users, we added a toggle that revealed more complex features, such as sidebars for text and design customization, allowing them to adjust things like text layers, corner radii, and shadows—offering full creative control without overwhelming the user.

Outcome
This dual-mode email composer allowed Kibamail to cater to both basic and advanced email creators, enhancing the overall user experience. Businesses could now create both simple and complex emails effortlessly, leading to better user retention and increased adoption of Kibamail as a versatile tool for various types of email campaigns. The solution successfully bridged the gap between beginner and advanced users, offering something for everyone.
