Case study
Designing a simplified timeline for seamless order tracking
Overview
TukShopp faced a challenge in low-coverage areas where real-time map tracking was not effective. The goal was to keep customers informed about their order’s progress, even when map tracking couldn’t be used. To address this, we designed a timeline feature to communicate every step of the delivery process, ensuring that customers stayed in the loop without the need for a map.
Scope
The objective was to create a timeline that outlined each key stage of the order process, from order placement to delivery. We needed to design a simple, effective solution that didn’t rely on map tracking but still provided clear updates to customers at every step. This feature would be essential in low-coverage areas and would ensure a smoother experience for users, reducing confusion and frustration.
Delivery timeline cards
Execution
We developed a timeline that included several status steps:
Order Received – The order is placed and awaiting vendor approval.
Order Being Prepared – The vendor has approved the order, and it’s being prepared for delivery.
Ready to Be Picked Up – The order is ready for pickup by the rider.
On the Way – The rider is en route to the customer’s location.
Order Arrived – The rider has arrived at the customer’s location.
Order Delivered – The order has been successfully delivered.
Delivery timeline screens
Each stage was clearly communicated to the customer, allowing them to track their order’s progress without needing real-time maps. Additionally, a pickup code was provided to ensure that customers could verify the delivery upon arrival, giving them confidence that the correct order was being delivered.
Outcome
The timeline feature streamlined the customer experience, especially in low-coverage areas where traditional map tracking wasn’t feasible. Customers were able to easily track the status of their order, reducing confusion and complaints.
The ability to verify delivery with the pickup code also added a layer of security and trust. The feature improved overall user satisfaction and ensured that the delivery process was seamless, even without real-time maps.
